Inhoud:
johannis, gouden munt van Portugal en Brazilië, genoemd naar koning Johan V (1706-1750) en door hem in Portugal ingevoerd in 1722 ter waarde van 1 peça ( = 4 escudo of 6400 reis). Door zijn opvolger Jozef I (1750-1777) bovendien in Brazilië ingevoerd in 1751. Op vz het koningsportret, op kz het Portugese wapen. De munt werd aangemaakt tot 1835 op een gewicht van 14,3 g en een gehalte van 0,916 (= 22 karaat). Hij circuleerde als handelsmunt op de Westindische eilanden onder de Engelse naam joe. Vanaf 1793 werd hij op grote schaal in Noord-Amerika en Engeland (Birmingham) geïmiteerd, evenwel met een lager gehalte.
Weldra werden de goede munten geklopt ter onderscheiding van de minderwaardige munten, o.a. te Essequibo en Demerary in 1798 met ED. Op Martinique werden kort na 1802 zowel de goede als de slechte munten van een klop voorzien, resp. 22 en 20 als waardeaanduiding in Franse livres.

Shipping is based on a 2 kg registered letter/parcel by PostNL, up to 2 kg no extra shipping costs if the books fit in the same letter/parcel.
Europe only: If its cheaper, we ship with DPD parcels (A 10 kg parcel often costs a few Euros more as a 2 kg parcel by PostNL, the standard shipping company) you will get a refund if you paid to much postage!
Shipping Refunds will be given by Bank or PayPal (The system cann't do this automatcally). Look for details under Shipping & Delivery in the Top Bar.
Combined shipping rules:
You have to combine all your purchases in one order, otherwise the system will see the purchases as seperate orders and start again with the basic rate for a 2 kg registered letter/parcel.
If you accidentally place more orders, we will recalculate the postage and give you a refund. We always ship for the lowest possible costs!
