From the series,

Monographs of the Drents Museum about Dutch Artists from the Period Around 1900, a Rijksmuseum collaboration with The Royal Penningkabinet, Leiden and the Museum of Decorative Arts in Ghent. Chris(tiaan) van der Hoef (1875 - 1933), a versatile artist and designer whose activities included sculpture, graphic art, ceramics and metal work, was one of the key designers and directors of Amstelhoek. Van der Hoef started designing pottery for the firm as early as 1898, using simple and clear forms based on Greek vases, decorated with restrained stylised natural or geometrical ornaments. In accordance with the Amstelhoek philosophy to revitalize Dutch craft with a combination of modern designs and traditional production methods, Van der Hoef used native river clay and historical decoration techniques such as inlay and slip decoration. He is known for the medals he designed, including one for the Olympics of 1928, for which he won a silver medal himself in the art competition. This catalogue includes 300 of his works, all annotated; a biography; list of sculptures in gypsum and bronze; medals, with both sides pictured; ceramic and silver pieces (mostly serving/table pieces); several essays; list of abbreviations; and more
