Pol, A.: De Schat van het Vliegend Hert. VOC Shipwreck

In 1735 The Flying Deer, a Dutch East India company ship sunk on her outbound voyage near Flushing Zeeland. On board were Gold and Silver coins with a value of 133.000 Guilders ( Now over 1.3 million Euro's), nothing was recovered untill 1980. Over a period of 10 years almost the hole content of all VOC money-boxes ( over 5.000 Gold Ducats and 10.000 Spanish American Silver cobs) were recovered.

In 1735 verging Het Vliegend Hert, een V.O.C. schip op haar uitgaande reis, voor de Zeeuwse kust vlak bij Vlissingen. Aan boord waren gouden en zilveren munten ter waarde van 133.000 gulden (Waarde nu meer dan 1.3 miljoen) bestemd voor V.O.C. vestigingen. In de periode 1980-1990 werd Het Vliegend Hert geborgen en bijna de gehele inhoud van de V.O.C. geldkisten (ruim 5.000 gouden dukaten en 10.000 Spaans-Amerikaanse zilveren realen) werd terug gevonden. Ook werden 9.000 ducatons aangetroffen, die door dienaren van de V.O.C. meegesmokkeld waren. (in Indië waren deze meer waard dan in De Nederlanden) Onder de ducatons bevond zich bijna de gehele oplage van de door de Overijsselse munt geslagen zilveren rijders met de jaren 1733 en 1734. ( Als u een Overijssels exemplaar uit deze jaren bezit, komt het waarschijnlijk uit dit wrak)

The divers also found 9.000 Ducatons, smuggled by VOC servants.   Among the Ducatons was almost the hole mintage of the Overijssel Mint of Silver Riders with the years 1733 and 1734. If you own an Overijssel Silver Rider of one of these years it's probably from this wreck.

Combined shipping

After registration (Important) the system automatically calculates the thickness and weight of every letter and gives you the rate for your Country. (If the combined order becomes to thick or heavy for a registered letter by PostNL, you automaticly see the rate for a parcel in your shoppingcart.)

Shipping is based on a 2 kg registered letter/parcel by PostNL, up to 2 kg no extra shipping costs if the books fit in the same letter/parcel.

Europe only: If its cheaper, we ship with DPD parcels (A 10 kg parcel often costs a few Euros more as a 2 kg parcel by PostNL, the standard shipping company)  you will get a refund if you paid to much postage!

Shipping Refunds will be given by Bank or PayPal (The system cann't do this automatcally). Look for details under Shipping & Delivery in the Top Bar.

Combined shipping rules:

You have to combine all your purchases in one order, otherwise the system will see the purchases as seperate orders and start again with the basic rate for a 2 kg registered letter/parcel.

If you accidentally place more orders, we will recalculate the postage and give you a refund. We always ship for the lowest possible costs!
